The funds from this event will support the “So Others May Eat” Program known as SOME.  This program provides basic nutritional requirements to those in our community who are most in need.  Last year we distributed 15,000 lbs. of food to 1,200 families.  This year our goal is to distribute 45,000 lbs. of food to 1,500 families here in Puerto Peñasco.  Please help us make this goal a reality!

Music, food & games will be provided at the event.  Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers of 5K Runs, 2K Run and 5K Relay Race after completion of all races.  Non-runners/walkers can enter raffle drawings with a donation of one food item at the event.

Last years Turkey Trot 2006
The second annual Larry D. Large Foundation Turkey Trot was a resounding success.  There were 30 contributing sponsors, and 100+ participants in the various walk/run events.  Thanks to these generous folks over $12,000 was raised by the Foundation to benefit the SOME (So Others May Eat) Program.  A special thanks goes to Playa Bonita Resort who was the lead sponsor and provided a wonderful site to host this event.

On December 29, 2007 approximately 45 volunteers assisted in the distribution of 1,000 food boxes which contained many needed items:  flour, masa, oil, sugar, beans, milk, cereal, fruit juice, and some cookies. Most of the families who received these boxes were grateful to the point of tears.  Donations were appreciated in a way most of us are incapable of conceiving.

 

Thanks to everyone's generosity at this event and the 2008 Super Bowl event there was enough money to do a second distribution of 1200 more food boxes on March 21, 2008.
